Dr. T

Dr. Nadya Tilluckdharry, fondly referred to as "Dr. T" by her clients, is a Licensed Psychologist with several years of psychotherapy, and assessment experience. She received her Doctorate of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University, Florida, where she received extensive training in individual, group, and family therapy. Additionally, she developed a passion for the administration and interpretative skills needed for comprehensive psychoeducational and psychological evaluations, as well as the provision of school – based mental health care. 

Her training sites include two community mental health centers: The School – Related Psychological Assessments and Clinical Interventions (SPACI) Clinic of the Psychology Services Center (PSC) at Nova Southeastern University, and the Faulk Center for Counseling. She successfully completed her internship at the Institute for Child and Family Health, Inc. (ICFH), and post – doctoral fellowship through the School Psychology track at Nova Southeastern University, serving as the primary school – based mental health provider for two academic institutions at each placement. 

Dr. Tilluckdharry received her license to practice in the state of Florida in 2015, and served as the primary consulting Clinical Psychologist for the Ministry of Education – Student Support Services Division during that year. Dr. Tilluckdharry was the founder and owner of the Center for Child and Adolescent Psychological Services - Trinidad and Tobago (CCAPS-TT), which provided psychological services for children across Trinidad and Tobago. Through this private practicethe West Indian Centre for Autism and Neuro-Development Clinic was created, with Dr. Narad Mathura, and successfully provided services for children, and families across Trinidad and the United States of America.

Dr. Tilluckdharry works with a wide variety of presenting issues as it relates to child, adolescent, and family functioning. Among her areas of expertise are comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations that include assessment of academic, behavioral, and social/emotional functioning, psychoeducation, and treatment planning, academic difficulties, parenting skills training, family issues, behavioral difficulties, interpersonal difficulties, depression, and anxiety.

Approach

Dr. Tilluckdharry strives to work collaboratively with each individual, group or family to identify their unique challenges and goals. She believes in creating a safe, supportive, and comforting atmosphere, that promotes honesty, and the freedom of conversation during her sessions. Sessions are interactive in nature and facilitate the use of multiple forms of play, and interactive media. All family members are encouraged to be appropriately engaged in the course of therapy. To achieve a naturalistic balance between intervention and the unique dynamics of the family within the session, Dr. Tilluckdharry draws from several theoretical orientations, including cognitive behavioral therapy, behavioral therapy, play therapy, family systems theory, attachment theory, solution focused and mindfulness based approaches. As such, she tailors each client’s psychological treatment to effectively address their goals, and help them improve their functioning for the benefit of healthy methods of relating to themselves and others.
